Tiago – Co-founder, Doctor of veterinary medicine

Co-founder of eLoc, Tiago is both a veterinarian and a linguist, even if by happenstance.A veterinarian with an international education profile, Tiago has always been a clinician at heart. Having served a 10-year tenure in the Portuguese official veterinary services, with roles in international missions on epidemiology, emerging diseases and food safety, Tiago found himself accidentally in the translation industry after a friend of his requested his assistance.

This soon progressed into a rather niche activity in clinical trials and regulatory affairs, which coincidentally drew on his research experience in pre-clinical trials and his work in a competent authority.

Following a move to Germany and further development of this activity, which culminated with eLoc’s incorporation during the COVID-19 epidemic, in early 2022 Tiago chose to go back into clinical practice, while still remaining actively engaged in eLoc’s activities.

He currently holds a professional license in three countries, catering to a demanding international clientele.

Tiago has a list of published papers that can be found on PubMed or his ORCID.

Anne – Co-founder, Chief Coffee Maker

Co-founder of eLoc and its current CEO. Anne is a highly seasoned medical translator with over 13 years experience in that field out of 17+ years of career, and has been a member of BDÜ (German Federation of Interpreters and Translators) since 2014.

Anne is also a seasoned eLearning consultant & instructional designer – that seed started growing when she created in 2913 an online training platform from scratch for translators (the Alexandria Library) – tapping from her experience as an eLearning Product Manager in one of Germany’s leading corporate eLearning providers. She has been helping organisations and associations build their eLearning platforms and training solutions since 2017.

She works full-time at eLoc, where she handles all in-house French medical projects, project management and client communication.

Fun facts

Rock singer, highly skilled slave and door-opener for the feline overlord species, horse-lover. Loves cooking, baking and gardening. Mother (multitasking superpowers!).
Passionate about life science, history and (geo)politics.
Speaks Argentine Spanish (che boludo!) and actually learnt Russian – but the only thing she remembers is how to ask for directions to the Red Square.

Education and background

MA, Translation, Lyon, France – 2008
BA in Applied Foreign Languages (German, English, Russian) Lyon, France – 2006
Studied political sciences and history in Nîmes, France, before going into languages and entering Translation School.

Grew up between France and Vienna, Austria, between French military air bases and international organisations & embassies. Lived in Dublin (to learn English once and for all – as incredible as it may be for a translator, she used to be really bad in English at school!), spent a while in Frankfurt and Wiesbaden for an internship. After graduating from university in Lyon, France, she then promptly moved to Buenos Aires (after having chosen Russian as a 3rd foreign language instead of Spanish… that went well in Argentina!) where she spent 2 years. She then lived 13 years in Germany, close to Freiburg. After years abroad, she is now finally back in France, close to Strasbourg.

Tiago is the first CEO, Anne took over the position in 2022 when Tiago went back to practicing veterinary medicine full-time. The company has been constantly providing the same services as before the merger: medical & life science translations and eLearning consulting services, while expanding into a boutique agency beyond the medical field.
