This year’s modest contribution went to Ein Zuhause für Tiere e.V.
2024 is about to end – but as many colleagues and competitors in our industry, it was a rather complicated year to manage, in terms of feast and famine. The recession and political unstability in Germany and France, the German industry generally struggling, the general conjuncture and the massive democratisation of GenAI hit our industry hard (plus being closed a whole month at the beginning of the year due to surgery didn’t help kickstart 2024 off the right foot ;)) – but we were confident it was temporary. And it looks like we were right: 2025 will clearly be busy, orders for the first 3 months of the year have massively come in already!
Nonetheless, we couldn’t make as high a donation as usual for the year’s end in 2024, but hey, every gesture counts, no matter how small. Hopefully, we’ll be able to make it up in 2025!
As you know, on a personal level, we have been supporting Ein Zuhause für Tiere e.V. (“a home for animals) every month since 2019 by sponsoring a cat. She is called Slawa, is an absolute cutie, she is blind and had it rough in her previous life. Being a sponsor means financially supporting her feed, vaccines and running expenses. But the association, based in the Berlin region, has about 100 other cats and few dogs – besides running expenses, they also regularly have heavy and hefty veterinarian bills. They take in chronic sick, injured, handicapped cats and give them a good life at home, with love and care. The cats are not up for adoption – the association basically adopts them and cares for them for the rest of their lives – hence the sometimes hefty medical and surgical bills.
So this year, besides my monthly ongoing sponsorship for the cutie Slawa, we donated a bit to the association for feeding expenses. The monthly private sponsorship for Slawa remains, but we are hoping to be able to make a bigger contribution next year!
